But a dot in the Eastern Molucca Islands of Indonesia, the island of Banda was the worlds primary supplier of nutmeg and mace through the Colonialism Period, and was dominated by the Portuguese, Dutch and English and beyond to near current times. This very detailed account of the island was primarily drawn from rare books and obscure articles translated primarily from Dutch. This is an interesting reading voyage tracing the realities the spice trade had on the difficult history endured by its populace and the islands continued obscurity in current times.
